Defining Europe’s next industrial and innovation priorities: discussions on FP10 and the European Competitiveness Fund with Spain’s Ministry of Industry
Europe’s future innovation and competitiveness priorities are being shaped today.
This week, María Luque, Founder of Future Literacy Group and Vice President of Innovation at AMETIC, participated in a working session with representatives of the Spanish Ministry of Industry and Tourism to discuss the evolution of the future European Competitiveness Fund and FP10 Horizon Europe (2028–2034).
The meeting brought us together with public sector representatives, including Cristina Serrano Leal, from the Cabinet of the Secretary of State for Industry, and Alberto Rodríguez, Director General for Industrial Programmes at the Ministry of Industry and Tourism.
As part of her role at AMETIC, María supports the association’s work on FP10 and the European Competitiveness Fund, helping bring together the priorities, challenges and opportunities identified by Spain’s digital industry as discussions continue across European institutions.
AMETIC is the voice of Spain’s digital industry, representing more than 320 member organisations, over 10,000 companies, €109 billion in aggregated turnover and more than 500,000 jobs across the sector.
While much attention is placed on budgets and funding instruments, the most important conversations often concern priorities: which technologies Europe chooses to accelerate, which industrial capabilities it seeks to strengthen, and which innovation ecosystems will receive support during the coming decade.
These exchanges help ensure that industrial realities, deployment challenges and innovation opportunities are taken into account as European institutions determine future funding priorities and strategic investment areas.
At FLG, we closely follow these developments because technology deployment does not begin when programmes are launched. It begins much earlier, when industry, institutions, innovators and capital start aligning around shared opportunities.
